The Melville Street Surgery, Ryde, was a wonderful historic building with stunning views towards the Solent but was becoming problematic by overcrowding of the premises.
The challenge for Charles Higgins Partnership was to find a suitable site for the surgery in a densely populated area. It was with a huge level of support from the local estates department at the Isle of Wight Council that we were able to identify and acquire a redundant Local Authority nursery site which is where Tower House Surgery proudly stands today.
The surgery was built with the design opportunity for future expansion to be implemented with minimal disturbance to the day-to-day operation. During Autumn 2013, this is what the surgery is now looking to achieve.
It is important for all parties that we can identify and help create exit strategies that require flexibility. Understanding the challenges that GPs face is key to providing bespoke solutions, in this case we organised the marketing and sale of the old property on behalf of the Drs.
How We Got There
Testimonials
“To end my working days in such a place considering that 31 years ago when I started we worked from two very small rooms. It’s been magnificent.”
